The story was really good, I am always looking for romances with the Jilting the Duke's characteristics; the protagonists had been young lovers who have been harshly separated by circumstances and misunderstandings and now find themselves in the position to be together again, after years of yearning, grudge and a sharp mutual dislike that hides a deep passion and feelings. And kids.

These premises are sweet notes for my ears. However this novel has a problem, in my opinion, and this is the overabundance of descriptive parts. Nevertheless, the interesting aspect is that these parts are not unpleasant, they are indeed well written and presented, they are just too many, not much is left to imagination.

The characters are good, well rounded, easy to empathise with, I enjoyed their backgrounds a lot, being Italian I also appreciated the Naples settlement and its historical events.
The thriller and spy story, although not among my favourite choices for a romance, are interesting and catching, I am surprisingly actually looking forward to see the developments with Aidan's brother, hopefully there will be his romance at some point (soon please!).

Aidan and Sophia's story is full of passion and sexual tension. There is craving, torment and resentment. All key factors very appreciated by me.

This is a good romance, well worth reading.

Buona lettura!
