This romance was quite refreshing for some aspects, but a bit too "unbalanced" for others, the latter can all be led back to the fact that this is a novella, and not a novel.
The plot is very interesting, unexpected, new types of protagonists, both normal people with normal employments, a governess and a stable master, no nobs and there are horses (I do love them).
My uncertainties although, arise with the timing, and this is not the first time I say this in regards to novellas.
In my personal, and very subjective, opinion, to make a short stories plausible at a love story level, the protagonists should already be connected by a shared background (childhood friends or acquaintances, an affair ended badly, previous love interest between them, and so on); if not, in most cases, the love story comes out too rushed and not particularly deep. That's also probably because I'm not a grand believer of the love at first sight.
But in general, trying to be very objective, I think that the idea of falling in love with a person, to the extent the hero or heroine wants to marry the other instantly, it is a bit unrealistic...and therefore not very easy to emphasises with.
This is the only negative critique I have for Seduced in September, because for the rest, as I've already said, it is a very enjoyable and refreshing short story. I like the author's style and I will certainly read something else from her pen.
This romance is part of a series of five books written by five different authors.
A Year Without A Duke series:
1. Jilted in January by Kate Pearce
2. Forbidden in February by Suzanna Medeiros
3. Seduced in September by Genevieve Turner
4. An Affair in Autumn by Jennifer Haymore
5. A Duke by December by Sabrina Darby
Buona lettura!
