What can I say...I adored this last novel in the series which, more than any other, has surprised me with the growth it has made. My initial approach with the Maiden Lane series has not been among the best; I'm not a big fan of Wicked Intentions and Notorious Pleasure, quite the contrary...but I'm totally in love with, in order of appreciation and amount of shivers/emotions aroused, Thief of Shadows, Duke of Midnight and Scandalous Desires. These just mentioned are among my all time favourite romances and they are the reason why I love the series and Elizabeth Hoyt's style. which is sharp, realistic, sometimes harsh, but also so very gentle, romantic and breathtaking and this is exactly what I believe to be the author's strength, the not-very-common capacity to combine roughness and sweetness in a perfect balance.

L'ho aspettato con molta anticipazione, ma veramente tanta, nonostante non credo di potermi definire esattamente una fan della serie: ho ADORATO Thief of shadows ma alcuni altri capitoli di Maiden Lane li ho trovati mediocri. Tuttavia Duke of midnight era nella mia testa da molto prima che venisse pubblicato, vuoi che c'è il duca, e questo è un duca estremamente intrigante, vuoi che volessi capire fino in fondo come tutta la storia del Fantasma di St Giles è organizzata, vuoi che mi piacesse la copertina (e chi ha letto altri miei commenti sa quanto io aborra le scelte che gli editori fanno in questo ambito) e vuoi anche che l'eroina mi avesse fatto una buona impressione, insomma dovevo leggerlo, subito...e difatti così è stato (c'ho messo un po' di più a scrivere il commento ma è stato a causa di forza maggiore).
